Our Story
Despite growing up less than 15 miles from eachother right across the Long Island Sound, we didn’t meet until we were living across the country, 2500 miles from home. Whether by fate, by happenstance, or by an invisible string connecting us all along, we eventually made our way to eachother and it’s seemed meant to be ever since.
Steph moves to
MARCH 2020
California
Admist an incoming global pandemic, Steph packs her bags and moves from NYC to Santa Monica for a work opportunity. She intends to only stay in Los Angeles for 6 months, but quickly fell in love with the sunny weather and the community she built on the west coast.
FEBRUARY 2022
Ricky moves to
California
After graduating from the Air Traffic Control academy, Ricky is placed in Palmdale, California. He moves to Santa Clarita to start this new chapter in his life and a brand new career.
Steph’s best friend (Beth) and Ricky’s cousin (Louie) tie the knot, and we both go to the wedding. While we didn’t formally meet that night, Ricky admits years later that he still remembers Steph was wearing a green dress.

On their one year wedding anniversary, Beth and Louie make a trip to California to spend Labor Day weekend with Steph. Louie invited Ricky to a night out with Steph and some friends. Despite it being out of his comfort zone, Ricky came, had a great night, and ended up crashing on an air mattress in Steph’s living room. They ended up spending more time together that weekend, going on a group hike and having a beach day. Steph wasn’t sure if Ricky was into her, but an Instagram follow gave her hope.

After a bad Hinge date, Steph posted on Instagram treating herself to a dinner and a PBJ shot from her fav place, Jamesons. A few days later, Ricky slid into her DMs.

We arranged to meet at Ashland Hill in Santa Monica. We both went in not knowing if it was a date or not, but after 4+ hours and seamless, endless conversation, there was very clear chemistry.

NOVEMBER 2023
On our second date, we went to a Lakers game. Steph was giddy and nervous, and polled her coworkers about what shirt she should wear. After laughing all night, we shared our first kiss on a street corner outside of the arena. Steph accidentally parked in a garage that closed at 6pm so Ricky drove her home, and stayed the night - this time not on an air mattress in the living room.
Oh, and Steph texted her friend saying she would marry Ricky. Very happy to report she was right.

2024
We fell in love
Given Ricky’s off days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we quickly started to implement regular Tuesday night dates. We started to invest in eachother’s hobbies - Steph learned about Pokemon, and Ricky started running. We went on many adventures together, from ski trips to Big Bear and Breckenridge, to weekends away at National Parks like Yosemite and the Channel Islands. Life together felt so right and Tuesday date nights turned into “how many times can we see eactother this week” date nights.

We turned a
house into a home
After living 45 min to 2 hours apart (LA traffic, let me tell you), we were over the distance. We met in the middle and moved into an adorable home in Montrose together. To no surprise, given how much he LOVES animals, Ricky quickly fell in love with having 2 cats as new roommates (Lady still pees on him, don’t worry). We started traditions together, like New York Times EVERY NIGHT before bed and yelling “ABA” at eachother whenever someone walks in the door. Living together has been easy and so much fun.

He put
a ring on it
After many months of Steph asking Ricky when he was going to propose, he finally got down on one knee one Friday afternoon when he walked in the door after work. Steph jumped up and down in excitement and yelled “OMG SHUT THE F UP”! She was not overly surprised given she had been yelling “DIAMOND DIAMOND DIAMOND” at him for months, but they were both incredibly excited to officially start the beginning of forever together.
